What is this even?

I wrote in Whither CMS? that I think with the introduction of LLMs that I think that traditional CMSs (e.g, the WordPress' of the world) have the potential to be massively distributed.

This site is my test to show that I think the world is changing. Yes, the world of content might change with more automatically generated content landing on the web, but I wanted to see how hard it is to build a custom CMS that can hook into the distribution platforms. Turns out it wasn't too complex. While I did run into some issues with the Mastodon integration, the process of getting an Email to Blog hosting service took roughly 30 minutes... I literally had a new CMS built from scratch. Incredible.

Want your own CMS that hooks into ActivitiyPub? Just fork this Val in val.town and follow the set up instructions (it's literally just setting up some environment variables).

I think the opportunity ahead is that the Web can be the best and easiest platform to deploy on if we can remove the complexity of hosting and designing sites. I think a blog tool like this could make it trivial, and I think LLMs will make building tools like this as simple as spreadsheets.
